I first met Chalmetta in 1983 at the Crenshaw Area Probation Office. I was working in my cubicle and became aware of someone singing in another aisle. It was Chalmetta. She was always full of spirit and life. Always ready to talk to and laugh with. I admired Chalmetta for her courage in living her life, working through illness, being outspoken, and shaping a wonderful daughter and grandchild. I will always be thankful that I knew Chalmetta and will keep her close in my Heart. Maria McDowell
